thanksgiving festivities

Before school let out for Thanksgiving break, the kindergarten at Emma's school had their Thanksgiving Feast.

Here's Miss Emma, ,our little Pocahontas...

The feast...

The tables for the parents and the kids to sit at...

Thanksgiving Day was spent over at Nana and Papa's house.

Lila loves to visit Cami, Mimi's dog.

Lila is ready for her first Thanksgiving dinner!

Everyone pitched in and helped to make our Thanksgiving tree. We all took a couple of leaves and wrote/drew what we were thankful for this year.

Papa's...

Emma and mine's leaves...

Aunt Nanie's...

Here she is hard at work on her leaf.

The finished product! We have so much to be thankful for!

9 months and 10 months

I'm still playing the catch up game on the blog. One of the things that I needed to catch up on was Lila's monthly pictures. Since, we just celebrated Lila turning 11 months, I thought we needed to go back and revisit months 9 and 10.

9 months...

10 months
What were some milestones for months 9 and 10?
  • She FINALLY got some teeth! At 10 months, we finally saw a bottom tooth start to push through. None of my other children have taken this long to get teeth. Emma and Ava got their first tooth around 5 months.
  • Lila is BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! You cannot "fence her in". Literally, she's like Houdini escaping through barricades and pulling open doors. It drives me crazy...
  • She walks along the couch and has started trying to walk to us.
  • She waves and says "bye-bye".
  • She gives sweet kisses on our cheeks.
  • She is a little fighter. She will not be pushed around by her sisters. She tells them about it:)
  • Eats anything and everything under the sun. Please refer to my chunky monkey post...
  • Lila no longer wants formula. So even though it is month early, we have transitioned to whole milk.
  • Lila says "Mama" all the time. When she is really good and mad about something, she will be sure to find me in the room and stare me down yelling, "MAMAMAMAMAMA!"

school

My girls love school. For that, I am so thankful. They are excited to go, and they are excited to share about their fun day.

This is Ava with one of her teachers, Ms. Melba. Ava LOVES Ms. Melba. She comes home telling us all about Ms. Melba's sayings. For example, Ms. Melba tells all the kids to never go out in the street because a car might "smash you like a pancake"! Love it!

My big girl Emma. I miss her so much during the day. She's the missing piece during my day.

She has homework that we do together every night. She loves to learn even though she at times gets frustrated with herself for not getting it fast enough. Right now she is obsessed with addition. She makes up and solves addition problems herself.

a fall barn party

The weekend after Halloween, Candice and her mother threw the cutest Fall Barn Party out on Candice's parents' land.

The details were so cute!... and I have no pics of it unfortunately! Sometimes I am at the mercy of Jason and what pics he gives me.

We had yummy chili and apple cider. The kids decorated pumpkins from the Burrows' very own pumpkin patch. There was a great bonfire with which we roasted marshmallows and made smores. There was also a hayride for all later in the night. So much fun!

Oh, my heart skipped a beat when I saw these pictures of Ava and all her long hair. Sigh...

Emma and Presley outside of Presley's playhouse...

A picture with all 3 kiddos is just not possible...

Such sweet personality!

Lila loved the horses!

did i really not blog about halloween?

I am in a constant state of being very behind on the blog. Time has been lacking lately, but I am determined to get caught up!

These 4 cuties had a ball Halloween night!

Isn't Presley the cutest in her owl costume? Love it!

This year, we had no theme going into Halloween. The girls got to pick what they wanted to be and they were emphatic about it. Mommy was not going to change their mind! My mom picked up the cute cat costume for Lila this year.

We trick-or-treated in my BFF Candice's neighborhood after we cooked out at their house. The girls were like seasoned pros. I felt like we were constantly chasing them because they were busting out some houses quickly!

This one was totally over it though.

chunky monkey

Yes, that's right. Our ten month old eats spaghetti already. Our joke is that if you gave Lila a steak she would figure out a way to gum it to death.

Maybe that's why her thighs look like this...

I wish that in adulthood it was just as cute to have chunky thighs.

one of my biggest fears have come true...

Ava is constantly surprising us. She keeps us on our toes.

For instance, a couple of days ago as we were shopping in Macys, a lady walked by rather quickly with her arms folded over her chest. As she walked by, Ava yelled after her, "Wow, you are a mad girl!" She turned and laughed, and we tried to explain to her she wasn't mad and then we quickly put our hands over her mouth so she could not speak again.

No big deal, right? Kids say the darnedest things...

Then, there are times that kids Do the darnedest things...

I was sleeping in yesterday morning because I took a friend of ours to the airport at 4 in the morning. Lila was down for her morning nap, and Jason decided to take a shower. He left Ava playing in her room.

When he went in to check on her after his shower, this is what he found in her room.

Yes, insert gasps of the impending doom that was about to rain down on all of our heads.

She cut it. Just snipped it away.

When Jason asked her why, she told him that she just wanted to be beautiful.

Bless her...

Hello, Mullet!

I freaked out. Thank goodness Jason was there to be the voice of reason and deal with Ava. For those of you who know me, you know that I love long hair on little girls. I just think they look so precious with it.

So off to the hair dresser we went. I told our hair dresser, Farrah, that if possible could we NOT do the whole weird looking bowl cut. So she cut Ava's hair up to the longest layer that Ava cut. Then, she tried her best to blend her hair on the side to not look too bad. The plan is that we will just keeping putting clips and bows on the side until it grows out. It is not too noticeable pulled back, and we are just going to stuff prenatal vitamins down her throat for her hair to grow quickly. Just kidding (I think)...

Ava now..

She's still one of the prettiest little girls I have ever seen:)
